Frequently Asked Questions

How does BarCount calculate my blood alcohol content?

BarCount uses the Widmark model with the Watson formula to estimate your blood alcohol content (BAC). It factors in your age, weight, height, sex, the timing and amounts of your drinks, and optionally whether you've eaten. The calculation runs entirely on your watch.

How accurate is the BAC estimate?

BarCount provides a scientifically grounded estimate but cannot replace an actual breathalyzer or blood test. Individual factors like daily condition, metabolism, or medication affect the real value. Never rely on an estimated BAC to decide whether you can drive — when in doubt, don't drive.

Does BarCount work without an iPhone or phone connection?

Yes. BarCount runs entirely on your Apple Watch or Wear OS smartwatch. No connection to a paired phone, the internet, or a server is required — everything happens locally on your wrist.

What data does BarCount collect about me?

None. BarCount does not send, store, or share any personal data. Your profile (age, weight, height, sex) and your drink logs stay exclusively on your watch. There's no account, no cloud, no tracking, no analytics.

Which smartwatches are supported?

BarCount runs on Apple Watch (watchOS) and on Wear OS devices like Google Pixel Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. A recent version of watchOS or Wear OS is recommended.

How much does BarCount cost?

BarCount is a one-time purchase of €0.99 on the Apple App Store. No in-app purchases, no ads, no subscription — buy once, keep forever.
